James Durden
1878 - 1964

Painter born in Manchester, where he studied at the School of Art, then Royal College of Art. Exhibited RA, ROI, RP, Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and Paris Salon.
James gained a silver medal in 1927 and also showed in the provinces, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. Manchester City Art Gallery. Several foreign galleries hold his work, which was reproduced by the Medici Society.
Lived near Keswick, Cumberland.
